Short breaks and bespoke respite
Overnight stays at various locations in the UK allow families the respite they are in need of, whilst also providing a valuable and exciting experience for our service users. With up to four short break trips organised each year, people aged from 5 years upwards can gain access to a variety of adventurous activities, including: abseiling, kayaking, caving, gorge walking and raft building. Service users will also benefit from social inclusion, building relationships with peers and gaining independence skills through various activities, such as making their own beds, packing their suitcases and washing their pots after meals.
This service has been commissioned by Tameside Council, for some of the most challenging children within the borough. The aim is to integrate the children into our community provision – interacting and socialising with peers. The provision not only enables families who are most in need to get respite, it also allows the children to stay within the borough, as previously this was being outsourced, in order to facilitate.
