Liam Supported InternActive Tameside are on the look-out for a new team of 12 young adults with learning difficulties or additional needs to enrol on their highly successful Supported Internship programme.

The Supported Internship programme is an employment-based course, which helps people to develop employability skills. Many interns from last year’s programme have now gone into paid employment.

Every intern will have the opportunity to gain the following qualifications: Functional Skills, Employability Skills, Maths and English (City & Guilds Level 1-3).

This year’s Supported Internship will start in September and will run throughout the academic year. Interns will spend 4 days a week in a work placement at Active Tameside and half a day each week at Tameside College, learning functional skills.

Supported InternshipIn addition to gaining qualifications and employability skills, the programme will help interns to learn new life skills, grow their friendship circles and improve their health and wellbeing.

Since the introduction of the Supported Internship at Active Tameside, the average number of people with learning difficulties in paid employment in Tameside has more than doubled to just above the national average.

The Internship at Active Tameside is run in partnership with Pure Innovations, Tameside College and Tameside Council.
