Curzon Ashton Football Club has launched a free ‘Nash Junior’ season ticket initiative for children under 11 years of age in Tameside. The club intends to attract the next generation of football supporters to Curzon Ashton’s home fixtures at the Tameside Stadium for the 2017/18 season.
Every child who receives a free Curzon Ashton season ticket will also receive a pin badge, water bottle and confirmation certificate, stating that they are officially a ‘Nash Junior’. To receive their free season ticket, children must be registered at an address in the borough of Tameside.
Curzon Ashton are now the highest ranked side in Tameside, following Stalybridge Celtic’s relegation to the Evo-Stik Premier Division last season. Natalie Atkinson, Chief Executive of the club, hopes that the free season ticket initiative will help to further increase support and enhance Curzon’s image as a family friendly club, while at the same time attracting new supporters.
Free tickets for primary school children
As well as their free season ticket initiative for juniors, the club has also frozen season ticket prices for its loyal adult supporters. Natalie said that, ‘Our fans were brilliant last season, so it’s only fair that we reward their loyalty by freezing ticket prices.’ In addition to their current supporters, Natalie added that, ‘Now we’re Tameside’s top football team, we have a brilliant opportunity to reach out to a new set of supporters.’
The club has partnered with Active Tameside to launch a primary school programme in September, when every affiliated coach will be given a free bag of tickets to give out to school children. This means that around 3,000 tickets will be given to children each week. Natalie added that, ‘If the children take up the offer, we’re hoping to see the Tameside Stadium packed next season.’
